Foreclosure Requests

The Lucas County Treasurer’s Office has launched the Foreclosure Request Program, which allows eligible purchasers to request tax foreclosure on delinquent parcels. The goal of the program is to support responsible reinvestment and help return vacant or underused properties to productive, tax-paying use.

Submitting a request begins a review process to confirm eligibility. If the Treasurer approves the request, the parcel will be advanced through the judicial foreclosure process and, if foreclosure proceeds, will be offered for sale at an upcoming online Sheriff’s Sale.

The opening bid at the Sheriff’s Sale will include all delinquent taxes, assessments, interest, and court, title, and administrative costs required by law.

To initiate a request, approved purchasers must submit a $5,000 deposit per parcel to cover foreclosure-related costs. Deposits are refunded if the property is redeemed or if the purchaser is not the successful bidder at the Sheriff’s Sale.

Submitting a request does not guarantee that a foreclosure will occur or that the property will be available for purchase. All requests and foreclosure actions are subject to approval and are made at the Treasurer’s sole discretion.
