Important Information - Please Read Carefully

This information is found on all the reverse side of all tax bills:

  1. There are two ways to pay your tax bill electronically: over the phone and online. A fee of 2.5% will be assessed for debit/credit card transactions and $0.50 for electronic check payments. Note: each parcel payment and fee will be processed as individual transactions. Entering incorrect payment account information will result in a returned payment fee. Late penalties and interest may also apply.

    Payments made after 8:00 P.M. Eastern time will be processed the next business day. Penalties and interest will be incurred after 8:00 P.M. on the due date.

  2. Semi-annual and monthly auto deduct payment options are available through the Treasurer’s office with no bank fee. Visit here for details.

  3. Payments at participating banks can only be for the exact amount of the tax bill (with original stub) and only through the due date on the front of this bill. Any tax payments made after the due date must be made directly to our office. Information about participating banks can be found here.

  4. Failure to receive your tax bill does not excuse the failure or delay to pay, per O.R.C. section 323.13. Payments received by mail must bear a USPS postmark no later than the due date or a statutory late payment penalty will be assessed.

  5. It is the taxpayer’s responsibility to notify the Treasurer’s Office of any mailing address changes. Changes may be submitted here.

  6. If your check/ACH is returned to us as unpaid due to non-sufficient funds, you will be charged a returned check fee. Late penalties and interest may also apply.

  7. Your assessed tax value is 35% of the appraised market value. Questions regarding the valuation of property may be directed to the Auditor at (419) 213-4406.

  8. If you are receiving the owner-occupied credit and you are not occupying the home, you must notify the Auditor’s office at (419) 213-4406. Failure to do so may result in the owner being convicted of a fourth degree misdemeanor. If you are not receiving this credit and you are eligible, please contact the Auditor at the same number.

  9. If you have an escrow account for your taxes, please forward this bill, along with your loan number, to your mortgage company and have them notify us to bill them directly in the future.

  11. If you are 65 years of age or permanently disabled, you may qualify for the Homestead Exemption. Contact the Auditor’s Homestead Department at (419) 213- 4406 for further information.

  12. Ohio law requires owners of residential rental property to register said properties with the Auditor by providing current contact information within sixty days of receipt of this bill. Failure to file the information or to update incorrect information in a timely manner may result in the assessment of a penalty of up to $150.00 following each tax bill for which the information is not filed pursuant to O.R.C. section 5323.01, .02, and .99.   13. Ohio law provides an extension of time for payment of real estate property tax to members of the armed services per the O.R.C. section 323.122.
